Have you ever wondered what Jewish sources say about healing and disability? Have you ever dreamt of studying Jewish sources in their original language, with no translation? In this class, we’ll study a passage of Talmud that discusses illness, prayer and the advantages and disadvantages of praying in our native languages. We’ll be learning this passage in the original Hebrew and Aramaic. The only prerequisite for this class is the ability to sound out the Hebrew alphabet, no other Hebrew language skills required. Through close study with a peer, deep dictionary sleuthing, and careful grammar parsing, we’ll explore together Jewish languages and rituals of healing. This class will primarily be offered on zoom, with the option for students to gather in person at Shir Tikvah with R’ Joey.
