Our groups

  • Chachamim

We are a group of more senior Shir Tikvah members who enjoy good food and visiting with others of various backgrounds and avocations. Many of us are semi- or fully retired. About 2/3 are regulars and others come occasionally or seasonally.

We meet for dinner the first Monday of the month, unless Monday is a holiday in which case we meet on Tuesday that month. The restaurants change every month and we do our best to vary both the ethnicity of food we eat and the area of the Twin Cities we visit. An email is sent out with the monthly restaurant at least two weeks prior to each dinner and a reminder the week before to those on my email list, and the information is included in the Shir Tikvah eNews. Your dinner partners usually vary with your arrival time. Although we schedule dinner for 6:45, most participants arrive by 6:30. It is one of the best-kept secrets for senior activities at Shir Tikvah. We love to welcome newcomers!

  • Caregiver Circle

The Caregiver Circle provides support to individuals caregiving for a loved one. Online monthly Wednesday evening meetings allow caregivers to check in, look briefly at a Jewish text and go deeper into whatever arises. Whether your loved one is local or lives in a different state, the Caregiver Circle connects individuals to an informal network to share experiences, exchange information, and offer peer to peer encouragement. For questions about the Caregiver Circle or to attend the next meeting, email Rabbi Sharon Stiefel here.
