We're creating a kosher, blind-accessible Megillah, combining traditional Hebrew scribal lettering with Braille. Through a series of community workshops, we're inviting Twin Cities communities to participate in every stage of its creation.
In this workshop, participants will help beautify the Megillah—and the decorations serve more than an artistic purpose! Because Braille characters occupy fixed-size cells, the Hebrew text sometimes requires staggered lines and unusual spacing. Our decorations will help visually justify these lines, addressing a halakhic consideration in the layout of sacred texts. Participants will explore the intersection of Jewish law, artistic tradition, and accessibility while helping bring this unique Megillah to completion.
No artistic experience necessary—all are welcome!
