In 1841, traditional and reform-minded German Jews attacked each other in the courts and the press.  At stake was the question of how the community in Fürth would bury their dead.  We’ll examine the news coverage of this ideological fight and consider what this 19th century kerfuffle might teach us about conflict and burial in Jewish community.
