Jewish Death and Dying Learning Collective

Jewish Death and Dying Learning Collective

April 20th 2PM -3:30 PM in the Shir Tikvah library

How do Jews mark death and approach what happens next?  How have the rituals of death and dying changed throughout our history and how are they evolving today?  What role might we plan in shaping our own and our people’s approach to death and mourning?  If you’re interested in these questions, please consider joining the first meeting of Shir Tikvah’s Death and Dying Learning Collective.

We’re a lay-led group who will meet monthly to learn about Jewish approaches to death and connect with other folks interested in the end of life.  While not a support group (check out Shir Tikvah’s monthly Torah for Tough Times), we’ll strive to build community and care grounded in each other’s big questions, deep curiosity, and passion for exploring the mysteries and traditions of death.

This group will meet monthly for learning.  Each session, we’ll be joined by teachers and death practitioners who’ll offer 20ish minutes of teaching, followed by plenty of room for sharing, potluck, and community building.  During our first meeting, we’ll focus on surfacing the questions and interests of the group.  Register here!
