Nishmat Kol Chai Shabbat Service
At Shir Tikvah’s founding, our community gathered regularly for Kabbalat Shabbat services (Friday evening) and for Shabbat morning services, on the first Saturday of the month. Our community would savor the fullness of Shabbat, as our people engaged in an enriching service including the reading or chanting of the Torah parsha and a Torah discussion.
As we enter our 36th year as a community, we’re thrilled to be launching a return to monthly community-wide Shabbat morning services! This songful service will give us the chance to lift our voices in prayer, to dig into Torah discussion and to savor Shabbat over a potluck meal.
The summer schedule of Shabbat morning services is as follows:
June 8th | Parashat Bamidbar
July 6th | Parashat Korach, Rosh Chodesh Tamuz
August 3rd | Parashat Matot-Masei
September 7th | Parashat Shoftim
This summer initiative is a partnership between community members and our rabbinic team - please reach out to Rabbi Arielle if you would like to be part of helping to organize these services, would like to help lead prayer or leyn Torah. Please bring a dish to share and come ready to participate in sweet prayer and community connecting. We hope you will join us for this soulful way to reconnect with each other and recommit to nourishing rest.
With thanks to Rabbi Barbara Block, Rabbi Cathy Nemiroff and Jane Newman for their creativity and care in launching this exciting summer series.
