Rabbinic Discernment Working Group - Congregational Sessions
As Rabbi Arielle wrote recently, a teaching of parsha Shemini is that “Dignity comes when we show up for each other.” In that spirit, the Rabbinic Discernment Working Group (RDWG) warmly invites Shir Tikvah congregants to engage in conversation about the future of Rabbinic leadership at Shir Tikvah.
What are these conversations about?
We are charged to solicit and provide input to our Board of Trustees and clergy team on two foundational questions:
What do we value in Rabbinic leadership?
Consistent with these values, what experience, talent, and areas of coverage should the clergy team bring?
To gather this input, the RDWG will host three Zoom sessions during April. You may sign up for these sessions using the links below. We are eager to hear your input and ideas. We expect these to be inspiring, visionary, forward-thinking discussions. The Zoom link will be emailed to those who have registered.
How else may I participate?
Depending on a number of factors, we may also host one or more in-person sessions. And, to gather input from the broadest number of congregants, we also will make an online form available to receive written input to the above questions. We will provide details in future eNews articles.
What happens with this input?
The RDWG will summarize the community’s responses to these questions for the Board of Trustees. The target date for our report to the Board is the end of May 2022. This is a beginning step in the congregation’s work to define its clergy team structure going forward. The RDWG will not be making hiring recommendations, writing job descriptions, or other personnel matters. There will be additional opportunities for participating in committees and working groups on governance and other related matters.
