Many of us are struggling to hold the weight of Hamas’s coordinated terror attacks on Israel over the weekend. The scope of the atrocities is unimaginable. Our hearts are broken over the growing number of casualties and the thousands wounded and missing in Israel and Palestine the last days. We extend our love and care to those in our community who have loved ones impacted by the violence. We pray for those who are grieving, who are searching for missing loved ones, who are bracing and afraid. The ripples of these attacks extend to every single Israeli, and to every Jewish person in the diaspora, in concentric circles of anguish and heartache.
Join us on Wednesday evening at 6:30PM, both at Shir Tikvah and on zoom for a night of song, mourning, and community connection through the heartbreak of this moment. There will be space for receiving and offering comfort and support, to sit in contemplative silence and song. We will just get together to pray and mourn our losses.
We offer the spiritual technology of our tradition - text, song, the power of the minyan - as we make space for mourning and connection. Let us live out our sacred task as a spiritual community, let us counter the instinct to draw sharp lines between us, with our curiosity, humility, and compassion.
All are welcome to join us -- please email here with questions. We ask that press not be present to give space to our community at this time.
