Congregational Meeting

Beloved Shir Tikvah community,

We are excited to share with you this notice that we will have a special congregational meeting on Sunday, March 12th at 3:00PM via zoom to vote on a recommendation from the Rabbinic Hiring Advisory Group that Rabbi Arielle Lekach-Rosenberg be hired as our Lead Rabbi.

The Rabbinic Hiring Advisory Group recently concluded its discernment process and has made an enthusiastic, unanimous recommendation. As per our bylaws, the final step in the hiring process is for this recommendation to be voted on by Voting Members of the Congregation at a duly called meeting.

Here are a few important things to know about the meeting:

  • The hiring advisory group will share details on the hiring process and its rationale for making the recommendation to hire Rabbi Arielle as Lead Rabbi.

  • A motion will be made to approve the recommendation. Members of the Congregation will have a chance to speak to the recommendation.

  • Our bylaws require that to vote, you must be a Member of the Congregation and be at least 13 years old. If you are older than 26, you must have your own membership, separate from your family unit. To be a Member you must have applied and been accepted for membership and have agreed to pay dues and fees unless waived.

  • If you have questions about your membership status, please contact our Executive Director, Jessica Markuson — jessica@shirtikvahmn.org.

  • An affirmative vote of ⅔ of voting members present at the meeting is required for the motion to pass.

  • The zoom link for the meeting can be found here.

We are filled with gratitude at this important moment. We are grateful to the hiring advisory group, including Chair Jane Binder and members Timeka Kuhnley, Track Trachtenberg, Rena Harold, Jeremy Pierotti and Dave Snyder, for leading an intentional, deep process that has resulted in this recommendation. We are grateful to Rabbi Arielle for engaging deeply in the hiring process and for her willingness to consider serving in this essential role. And we are grateful for the countless ways you make Shir Tikvah the k’hilah k’doshah (holy community) that it is. We look forward to a meaningful Member meeting on March 12th.

With gratitude,

Amy Funk & Ben Goldfarb

Co-Presidents, Shir Tikvah Board of Trustees
