Kol Nidrei Youth and Families T’filah

Wednesday, October 1, 2025 | 5:00pm

All welcome; designed for 2nd through 5th grade families.

Led by Shana, Forrest, and Rabbi Joey.

5786 is here! Start it in community at Shir Tikvah! This Yom Kippur, our Families T’filot center on the theme, “Lilmod u’Lilamed (ללמוד וללמד) - To Learn and To Teach.” During the Kol Nidrei Families service, we will explore what we have learned and taught over the course of the last year.

On Yom Kippur, we pick back up after the ten days since Rosh HaShanah: On Rosh HaShanah, we thought about and shared what we want to learn and teach in the new year. On Yom Kippur, we think about what we learned and taught in the last year. As we settle into 5786, we invite our 2nd through 5th graders and families to consider these prompts:

-Where is the best place you have ever learned / Where is your favorite place to learn? Why?

-What is something you learned about/from yourself this last year? What was it like to learn this?

-What is something you learned about/from others this last year? What was it like to learn this?

-What is a cool/fun/meaningful fact you learned through your school/work this last year?

-Who did you learn from this last year? How might you honor them for what they taught you?

-Who did you teach this last year? What did you teach them? Did you know you were teaching them?

-What makes learning challenging, complicated? Why?

Have these conversations as a family before Yom Kippur and bring your thoughts with you to the service. Really push yourselves to think about learning and teaching as things that happen both at school and outside of school. We look forward to hearing what you discuss!

Shir Tikvah Yom Kippur Families T’filot take place at St. Joan of Arc on Wednesday, October 1 and Thursday, October 2. All are welcome to all services; evening Families services are designed for 2nd through 5th graders and their families and morning Families services are designed for newborns through 1st graders and their families.
